Each player draws a card. Player with the highest point value is the dealer. Shuffle the deck. Each player is dealt 7 cards. Place the remaining cards facedown to form a draw pile. Turn over the top card of the draw pile to begin a discard pile.
If the top card is a Wild or Wild Draw 4, return it to the deck and pick another card. For all other cards, see directions that follow. If this card is turned up at the beginning of play, the first player must draw two cards. This card may only be played on a matching color or on another Draw 2 card. If this card is turned up at the beginning of play, the player to the right now plays first, and play then goes to the right instead of left. If this card is turned up at the beginning of play, the first player the player to the left of the dealer is skipped.
The WILD Showdown card allows the player to pick the next color that must be followed, the opponent that will enter the showdown with them, and how many cards are put in the Showdown Unit. When a color card with the showdown symbol is played, a showdown occurs between that player and the next opponent in the turn order. Place the unit between the two players, load the number of cards determined by the showdown symbol, and push the timer button on the unit.
Each player should place their hands on their paddle. The unit will begin a countdown, and once the countdown ends, both players will press their paddle as quickly as they can. The winner will send the cards flying towards their opponent. If it is too hard to tell which opponent lost the showdown, use the lines on the side of the unit. Whichever player has more cards on their side of the unit loses.
If a player presses their paddle before the timer ends, the until will end the countdown and the red arrow will point at the player who pushed it too soon. They automatically lose the showdown and take the cards. When a player plays their second to last card, they must say UNO. If they fail to do so, and an opponent says it first, that player must draw two car.
If the final card is a showdown card, a showdown must occur. Once a player completely empties their hand, the round ends. Tally up the score for the round, collect the cards, and pass the deal left each round. Number cards are worth the value of the number on the card. Cards are matched by color, number, or action.
For example, if the top card of the discard is a blue 5, a player has the option of playing any blue card or any color card with a 5. Wild cards may be played at any time and the player may choose to change the leading color with it.
If a player cannot match or does not wish to match they must draw from the draw pile. If the card drawn can be played, it is in your best interest to do so. Either way, after play moves to the next person. Some variants require players to draw cards until they can play one, up to 10 cards. NOTE: If the first card flipped from the draw to the discard which initiates the game is an action card, the action must be done.
The only exceptions are if wild cards or wild card draw four is flipped. You can also play a Wild card which can alter current color in play. If the player has no matches or they choose not to play any of their cards even though they might have a match, they must draw a card from the Draw pile. If that card can be played, play it. Otherwise, the game moves on to the next person in turn. You can also play a Wild card, or a Wild Draw Four card on your turn.

Draw Pile. There are two different ways to play regarding drawing new cards. The Official Uno Rules states that after a card is drawn the player can discard it if it is a match, or if not, play passes on to the next player. The other type is where players continue to draw cards until they have a match, even if it is 10 times.
The game continues until a player has one card left.
