Access queries slow windows 7

Does anyone have any thoughts on how to fix this? I have read that this might be a problem with Windows 7, and I have tried installing the following hotfix but am getting an error when trying to install:. I don't know of any specific issue with speed in this configuration. Did you check with the Performance FAQ? I also question the use of Office and specifically Access ; it is not a recommended configuration.

Use the bit version. Also, I originally switched from the bit version to the bit version because it was a recommended fix for using the OpenRowSet function in SQL Server to import data from an Excel spreadsheet but it didn't end up fixing the problem. I'll look into switching back.

Can you clarify the piece about child queries executing for each row in the parent? I have no idea what any of this means. Will research - but any help you can give me pointing me in the right direction would be much appreciated!

Also, a quick note in response to Tom van Stiphout's suggestions above - I've reinstalled the 32 bit version of Office, but it hasn't seemed to help with the performance issues. Within SQL Profiler you should filter the events you see by something that limits the capture to events originating from your Access application. That gets rid of background sql server events unrelated to your application. I don't understand the difference between the report "running fine when run directly" but taking 2 minutes when run from a button on a form.
