If you're getting missing autoexnt. File errors are often caused by more than just a single missing or corrupt file and copying just one file could cause more issues. It's the installation program I'm having trouble with. I played with the GUI to locate what option may be wrong, but haven't found it yet. I first installed the service using my program, then I checked the Interactive box, then I rebooted. That alone isn't the answer. Maybe I'm autostarting wrong then?
I read something in a registry boot, making me think it thinks that I wanted a driver maybe? Is this true? If it is true, it's not meant to be. Somethings still wrong. It's not working manually either. Joined Mar 27, Messages 5, And i assume the service is not installing?
I have found when i wrote batches for my home's backup system that for some reason some programs wont run untill you go into the directory that the command is in. If instextnt is the executable your running, maybe try a simple cd to its directory before running. It seems as if the situation just got weirder. I wasn't finding much, so I tried to get the batch file to create a log.
It proved that it is running, but I can't see it running. I don't know why I can't see it running though despite the interactive flag. What this program is, is it's a program to make Windows NT including deratives, such as Windows XP run a file at bootup, like Autoexec. So the program is a service to run a batch file. It runs when a user logs in, but before the user is logged in.
The program instexnt is supposed to install the program, which I now can prove it is doing. I think I might have finally figured it out, but I have to still run some more tests to see. It seems like the Welcome Screen was blocking the abillity to see it run. I disabled the screen and I saw it. Now, if my tests still prove it's true, it's time to find out how to let it still be seen even if I enable the Welcome Screen. That didn't happen last time, but I do have one idea why it's possible.
I did disable and re-enable the Welcome Screen before when it was installed. This time I didn't do that, because it's a new installation and I desired the Welcome Screen all the time so far. Is there any command in the batch to update the gui interface? Maybe if you add a string for that it may help. Again, i do not know everything there is to know about DOS but will try to help to my best ability. Well, the Welcome Screen was definately blocking things.
I saw the output when I disabled the Welcome Screen. However, what I did not see, as expected, was that when I re-enabled it, it did not go to the top, but blocked it again. That blows part of my theory about why the Welcome Screen blocks it. I can trace a few other things I did before though. Sorry this didn't help.
